How to make a Blast Furnace in Minecraft when your in survival move. We also cover what it is used for so you can speed up your smelting.

Items Needed To Make a Blast Furnace
- 11 Cobblestone
- 4 Coal
- 5 Iron Ingots
- 1 Crafting Table
Step1. Making The Furnace
To make a blast furnace you need a furnace first, to do this you will need 8 Cobblestone. Use the 8 cobblestone like the picture below to make an ordinary furnace.
Step 2. Make The Smooth Stone for the Blast Furnace
Use the Furnace you just crafted to smelt the 3 remaining Cobblestone into Stone.
Then take the Stone out and re smelt them into Smooth Stone.
Step 3. Crafting the Blast Furnace
Use your 3 Smooth Stone, 1 Furnace and 5 Iron Ingots and craft them into a Blast Furnace using the picture below as a guide.
How to Use a Blast Furnace in Minecraft
As you might have noticed you can not throw in your favourite meats or potatoes in there to cook for some health increasing good food. That is because although the blast furnace is tailored for speed so smelt things much quicker, It isnt designed for food.
An easy way to think about it is, a Blast Furnace will only melt metals/ores. Its the counterpart to the smoker which primarily cooks food faster for you.
So can only smelt any ore block much faster than a furnace would. Other items you can smelt include tools and Armor such as iron leggings on chest chain mail.
It smelts it at twice the rate of a normal furnace, so your able to produce double the mount that you would have previously.

This item that isnt hugely difficult to get the items for is hugely useful. Typically mining for a short period of time will give you all the items necessary to create it. How ever now you can smelt ores at twice the speed meaning your efficiency rate how now doubled for ore mining!
